Session 2 focuses on Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) is a practice in eleven U.S. states and the District of Columbia. It allows a terminally ill, mentally capable adult with a prognosis of six months or less to live to request from their doctor a prescription for medication they can decide to self-ingest to die peacefully in their sleep. What misconceptions still shape the public’s understanding of MAiD? How can clinicians and caregivers support families through one of the most complex decisions they may ever face? What does compassionate guidance, dignity, and autonomy actually look like at the bedside?
